The Dubai Foundation for Women and Children has created victim-centered support programs for victims of Domestic Violence and Human Trafficking that are in line with international best practices and standards, and within the legal framework of the UAE. Through DFWAC’s Domestic Violence and Counter Trafficking Support Programs, the Foundation will continue to improve and expand its services to victims, advocate on their behalf, and protect their interests and needs.

  1. Study the social issues and phenomenon in the UAE society and set proposals for programs to eliminate such issues from occurring.
  2. Produce the statistics and reports based on international standards to cater national and international society’s needs.
  3. Develop and invent social programs to eliminate the violence against women and children and that is recognized internationally to leverage the role of families in the society.
  4. Raise the national and international awareness of the important role of the DFWAC in elimination of violence against women and children as well as share the knowledge.
  5. Develop and expand the knowledge database in in the Foundation to be a vivid resource for researchers.

DFWAC have developed the first play therapy program with full facilities providing both directive and non-directive play therapy services to children.

A comparative study on Human Trafficking: Trends,

Through DFWAC’s Domestic Violence and Counter Trafficking Support Programs, the Foundation will continue to improve and expand its services to victims, advocate on their behalf, and protect their interests and needs.

Violence Against Children in UAE Study

The study would be the first study of its kind. It will address the research question of assessing the prevalence and magnitude of child abuse and neglect among Emiratis in United Arab Emirates. The research objectives are to assess the prevalence of physical, sexual, and emotional acts of violence that children experience, the relation of certain socio-demographic characteristics to the likelihood of experiencing violence and the strategies children use when exposed to violence. Last, it will recommend effective strategies to prevent, protect victims of child abuse and prosecute preparations.

Future Plans

Best Practice Manual in Human Trafficking

The Best Practices Manual will be a practical guide for other organizations seeking to set up human trafficking programs and shelters. It will offer recommendations and explicit policies, procedures and forms that should be used in the provision of shelter services, as per international guidelines and United Nations recommendations.

Domestic Violence Study

The main objective of this proposed study is to assess the magnitude of the problem of domestic violence among Emirati people living in United Arab Emirates, with a specific focus on the prevalence of physical, sexual, and emotional violence against women, particularly those inflicted by male intimate partners. An extension of this study will be to the South Asian community and Expatriate population residing in Dubai.
